All Wicked Edge knife sharpeners with standard blue bases (pictured below) can be mounted to a work bench or base surface by downloading the template below and following the instructions.
Please note that the 10/32 x 1-1/2″ screws provided with your sharpener are for mounting your sharpener to a surface that is 1-1/4″ thick. A selection of of ready-to-use bases in a variety of materials are available from Wicked Edge on our website here.
Instructions for using the mounting template:
- Download the template below (found in the article attachment) and print it out. Using the template as a guide, mark the vertical and horizontal centers of your mounting platform. Now use a scissors to cut along the solid border of the template (This is the printed rectangle that is the same size as the blue, sharpener base.).
- Place the cut-out template on your base surface in the location where you intend to mount the sharpener. Use a ruler or T-square to align the template exactly where you want it and tape down the sides of the template to keep it from shifting around.
- Center a 13/64 drill bit on the center mark of each hole (there are two in opposite corners) and drill straight down. On the bottom of your mounting surface, you may use a 3/8″ drill bit, or a countersink bit, to countersink the holes.
- Insert the mounting screws that came with your sharpener from the bottom side of your mounting surface, into the bottom of the blue, sharpener base. If the fit is not tight enough when screwed down you can add washers to the screws to get a snug fit.
